The highly-regarded national civil engineering school or, literally, the "National Higher College for Bridges and Roads". It is one of "Ecoles Nationales Supérieures", the higher education campuses instituted by Napoleon that are seen to be a better alternatives to University education.

  • Place du Carrousel, Sean (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
In a city of small streets and building under historic preservation orders, the only place to build a large shopping mall was underground. The Carrousel du Louvre is a large, attractive and elegant shopping mall under the Louvre/Tuileries area. It hosts the only true food court in Paris as well as tourist trap stores. In the hot summer months, it serves as a cool refuge.
  • Le Marais, Sean (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
In the 70's to 90's, this was the gayest part of town, similar to Chelsea in NYC or Castro Street in San Francisco in reputation. It is a place of small, irregular shaped streets, boutiques, galeries and museums. It includes the majestic Place Vendôme (with Victor Hugo's house) and the Jewish quarter (mainly around the rue des Rosiers). It has, as usual, become gentrified and is not necessarily "gay central" anymore.

I've been here the other week. It was GREAT. Although the middle kinda creates some kind of wind vortex thing, so the winds in the middle of the Eiffel are very strong. Nevertheless the trip to the top was worth my 11.60 euros. :D

We stayed in this hotel.. Small rooms but reasonable price. 100 Euro per night. It has the smallest elevator I have ever seen. It hardly occupies 2 slim persons.
